Prospecting
well after much research I have sold my MXT pro and ordered the AT gold. The MXT was too heavy after only a short while and from what I understand the AT gold is deeper and is superior in trashy areas and waterproof. After all if the AT gold is lighter,as good at prospecting, better at at coin shooting and waterproof, why not right. Please share your opinions.
Thanks...

Lighter,yes.

That's about it.

I'm not trying to be inflammatory here, just honest. That was a horrible switch.

Well it is waterproof and if the MXT is to heavy its not worth making a misery out of a hobby. Would have still stuck with the MXT myself but at least you will be able to post your views on the merits of both after you have some time in with the new machine.

im a whites guy, but after seeing a at goldin action im wanting me one! but im still not getting rid of the whites! lol!

After a little bench testing so far so good.I really like the high res iron disc.I believe it will be superior in trashy areas,it hits way harder on small test nuggets,it is considerably lighter and waterproof more to come.I just may have a GMT for sale very soon.

Bench testing is NOT indicative of actual soil performance. Wait and test it in the FIELD before you go selling stuff.

it is a result from my in the field testing that lead to my decision to make the switch in the first place

I own the MXT Pro and an AT Pro. I'd never sell the MXT - it's a great unit. I bought the AT Pro for water use and it serves well in that capacity. I've used it some on dry land too, but really not enough to comment any more than I already have. I agree, the MXT is a bit heavy. I can't use the 12" coil - it kills me. The 10" DD isn't bad and gets pretty good depth.

"Just my opinion": If ya hit goodies where you went over the area with your MXT, you eather have a winner or you don't quite now your MXT.
I would have kept the MXT as a back up or get a friend who does well due to knowing his MXT. Just sayin.
Good luck friend.

Well I got out for a few hours with the AT gold today,I really like it so far.The audio on this machine is awesome.the 5x8 coil working with the fast recovery of the machine slices through trash like a ginsu knife,it really gets right in there and gets the good stuff amid all the trash.more to come. Thanks for the replies.

You might have tried a new coil on the MXT,(4x6 or a 5.3) before you ditched it for an inferior machine.
I have two friends that both have the AT pro and I run circles around them with my MXT.
Sure, it's lighter, but so is a Bounty Hunter

Im not knocking the MXT it is a very powerful and versatile machine,I have spent many hours hunting with it.Besides the MXT (just sold) I also have a whites M6,a whites GMT,a Garrett infinium and a few cheapies.I was intrigued by some of the features on the AT gold.I do believe it will serve me well,I did most of my hunting with the 6x10 DD(MXT) and so far after only a little time with the AT gold I find it better in trashy areas.just my opinion.
