MXT for a beginner

Yep I started out with the MXT and my first find was a 1865 2 piece and a 1865 IH in the same hole and have found alot of silver as well, as with any detector you'll get better with it as time goes on. It took me till the end of my second year to get real good at the really deep targets, then I was getting silver dimes at 10"+. The D2(whites 10"DD coil) is great for those real deep targets, I got as deep with that coil as the 12" coil but being that its a DD type coil it separates alot better than the concentric coils. Get a good set of headphones that will let you hear those deep whisper targets like the koss that whites sell, there are also good headphones that have a built in limiter that won't blast your ears off on overloads or real shallow targets. The MXT is an good one to start out with and stick with as you get better. Remember the pull tab reading is also where lots of gold rings are.

The MXT is killer in my opinion, I've found a lot of really nice stuff with mine. There are an excellent detector for the beginner too because of the turn on and go capability. I would be using my MXT except nowdays it's only used when someone else is hunting with me that doesn't have a detector. The last 2 times I instructed people on how to use the MXT I found nice keepers in a short amount of time showing them.
