near the end of todays walk in the park
seemed my mxt was chattering and having a problem locking down targets
checked the battery's and they appeared OK but ( shrug )
a AA new reads 4.0 MA and these were testing 3.5 3.4 MA

so I guess my question . would this be a side affect of deteriorating battery life.
as in the past the unit seemed to work fine. then the batteries would just quit for the most part
but this time I got some lithium and maybe they are tattering on the edge?

if anyone else has experienced this. let me know will ya.

I'm not sure on the mxt. But the first 2 times out trying to learn my dfx. It became very unstable and chattered all over the place. Wanted to toss it. Same place both times. Turned out to be electrical interference, but no visible signs of power lines. Now whenever i go there, i have to use my ML. The dfx works fine every where else. HH

it could be either electrical interference and OR ground mineralization,

try turning down the sensitivity on your machine/s,

then re-ground balance,

this will stabilize it/them, and allow you to hunt the area/s.

PS

the MXT is known to chatter a lot depending on the coil you're using too.
(if it's the 1400dd- it makes a lot of noise, to reduce this, see as described above)

The manual says "alkallines are recommended" I take that to mean ONLY! Lithiums may cause some sort of trouble in the machine, I haven't tried them...or electrical interference. I pump the coil to re-balance the thing when it gets noisy on me. Good Luck. I use the Duracells in mine. I buy the 36 pack at Home Depot. Cheap.
