brand spanking new to CRH, and thought there is no better time than now to start! so while on the road with business, stopped by a local bank and asked if they had any rolls of halves. Teller came back with $170 in rolled halves, so i took them back to my room. The First roll had 4 40%s in it. from there on out it got better n better! All in all pulled out the following from the one RANDOM stop....

5-1964
7-1965
5-1966
8-1966
8-1968
6-1969
and then 2 1952 Booker T & George W halves (how rare or what are these?)

I was in total shock in what i had found! probably hooked for a while now! later that day at a different branch got my first 1959 Ben Franklin half, and a 1976 Kennedy half in silver? (are they out there?). Would like to hear what you guys know about the above questions, Thanks!! image.jpg

Great job. Commemorative coins are fairly rare. I still have not found a commemorative after about 2 years of CRHing.

Nice score! I've done 2 boxes a week for the last year+ and still have not found a commemorative..
Welcome to your new addiction!

Yes there are 76 silvers..

Happy hunting!

the 76 has gunk on it...haven't been able to locate a mint mark...but it sounds like silver? the 52s don't have any marks that i can see...but what would be the best mint?

The mint mark on the Carver/Washington half is right above the 'C' in "Americanism" under the USA on the back (if it has one; no mint mark, it's from Philadelphia).

The mint mark on the bicentennial is above the dot separating the 1776 and 1976.

Also, in response to your question about the 1952 Carver/Washingtons and mint marks, here are the mintage figures:

1952-P - 2,006,292
1952-D - 8,006
1952-S - 8,006

That's sure a great way to start off....congrats!

Beginners luck! I love it! I had a similar experience rather early on where 8 boxes produced nearly 200 keepers, around 150-160 40%ers and the rest bens and kens. From that point on I have been hooked! Unfortunately I havent been able to do alot of hunting recently but hope to pick it up over the next couple months.

Keep up the good work and remember it never hurts to ask and you always take them all!
