......I am deciding whether to keep this detector or not??.....It goes deep....it is basically a beep and dig machine.......I am still new at using this detector....WOULD YOU DIG THE CHOPPY SIGNALS??....or just go for the smoothe and clear signals.......I set it up so that the Nickel comes in Loud and clear.....Not Choppy........Some of the motion discriminators only have a depth of about 8 inches or so......on the Advantage I can dig a plug that is at least 6 inches deep and still have a signal in the hole......Is there a way to discriminate deep iron or at least figure out that it is not a small non-ferrous object...??..these are larger pieces like from a tin can.......JOE

Joe your detector is a very good one an appears to be operating OK. Even with the Sov GT and Explorers large Iron targets like rusty cans are very conductive and there isn't a detector I know of that can tell the difference on deep targets between Iron or something else.

Your time is better spent going for the smooth repeatable signals. :hello:

when i found my hoard of silver hammered coins with my minelab sovereign machine the first signal i got was a bit of a choppy one. when the hole was dug there was a 4" metal disc in the same hole as the coins, so i would say if the signal isn't to bad of a one dig it, sometimes the goodies are laying amongst the rubbish.
if the signal gets better when digging the hole your on to something. if it gets worse your probably wasting your time.

I LOVE THIS MACHINE!

I use it still to accompany my etrac explorer.
You are correct, the depth is amazing!!!! and I wonder sometimes if I actually get more depth than my pricey etrac.
I set the sens UP
almost to 4 on the descrim and dig the solid tones. I have found that the distinctive "pops" are usually junk. You know what I'm talking about.
If you need any help with it I am always willing to help out.
But there is no mistaking that silver huh?
Great to see another M-teer user here

The Musky's are great detectors. One of the best machines I've used for mineralized ground and has very good sensitivity to low conductors for the lower 5 kHz. freq. The Advantage and my Sovereign are a great combo for just about any hunting situation. This is my Advantage set up on a two piece Minelab straight rod.

OF COURSE!

Set it just under "11:00 position. And trust the solid tones.
