I posted this in Today's Finds but figured will probably get more input over here. Stylistically it is close to a sling buckle but not close enough to remove doubt. Would have had three tines. Input?

My issue with this buckle is that all of the Colonial era sling buckles I have seen were Cast brass. This one looks stamped.

Might there have been a Chape to this buckleLucas said:If that's what it was, it would have been soldered in place. I have only seen 1 before.
