Hi all,

I posted my finds from Saturday on the 'todays finds' and plehbah was kind enough to identify the escutcheon for me. So as I was cleaning up the rest of my finds I noticed that the smaller piece has the same handmade decorations as does the larger one. Would you guess that I have found to escutcheons from the same weapon?

Any thoughts as to what the large piece with the hole in it is and also the smaller lead/pewter piece?

So far one CW eagle cuff, one CW coat and one officers sword belt plate came from this area.
Thank you for looking.

What part of a musket might you think these are?

Hi Montana Jim, plehbah thought that they were escutcheons from a musket. I posted them on todays finds last week. I was quite surprised and pleased to find a second piece with the same handmade designs on it. I will try hunting that site again and see what shows up. The general area is quite large and I am sure relics are spread out far and wide.

The pics are so big I can't get all of any one of them on my monitor. The one round piece with the "leg" on it could be a patch box cover, but that's a wild guess. I'm not sure what you are calling an escutcheon. I can't make out any of the other pieces. Monty

(2nd picture) The right is a musket escutcheon plate / thumb plate, and the left is the top part of a Musket trigger guard.

Great, thank you Iron Patch for the additional info. This is a first for me as far as finding any weapon parts. Funny how those pieces wound up getting lost.
