Dug a confederate hospital in Harrisonburg VA today


Can anyone assist with ID of the mechanism top left? I can't quite match it to a musket image

It may be from a pistol ?
3 old locks, that quite unusual for a single hunt, I've never got an old one.

The firearm part appears to be a percussion, back action lock for a muzzleloader. From the size I would think a pistol or small bore shotgun.

If you found all those locks, then the gold must be close by!

Yup shotgun lock, be very careful cleaning it and you may find a makers name on it.
