This item is about 1.25 inches around and weighs 48 grams.I think its lead,as it doesn't stick to a magnet.I would live it to be a musket ball, but have found no pics with all those lines around it.I hope someone out there can offer a clue to what this might be.Thank-you.

I do not think it is a ball or slug, did you find it in CT?

But a ball mill using lead media, don't waste your time, they for the most part use steel and stone balls.

Think you can say with certainty that's it's not a musket ball. Not even sure I would say it's lead. Lead will usually get a white patina on it when it ages. Maybe pewter? Neat looking piece. Think to get a better id on it you would have to dig more stuff up. Did you dig it on a home site?

Not a musket ball. I have seen this before, but can't remember when or where. I'll get back with you if I'm able to recall. Sticks in my mind it's part of a child's toy, but don't
take that to the bank, just another area to research.

Hello.I dug this in a dirt parking lot.It was pretty shallow and smells like oil from cars might have leaked on it.The side that I didn't photo is turning white. There was an old Stone water mill that sat near the parking lot ,if that helps.Thank you.

Could that be a viking gaming piece? I was bored searching viking finds and saw one that was labled as that just with a different patina on it.

Hmmm,a viking game piece sounds way better than a musket ball, but i don't think that's possible seeing i found this in Ct.Funny thing though,I went back to that spot and found another one today!
