Musket Ball? Pulled Bullet? Old Sinker?

My buddy Stormfighter found this ball shaped piece of lead at a site where we have been dating things from 1850-1870. I read something on pulled bullets and was wondering if this is one. The only problem is that it looks like the extractor tool broke. In the center of the ball is a nub of square shaped iron embedded in the lead. Any help on the ID would be great. I thought maybe an old fishing sinker but no lakes for this size that close.

Looks like the lead was formed around the other object. I don't think it's a pulled ball.

That looks like a mushroomed high velocity rifle bullet to me. The front part is solid lead while the ramains of the jacket is embedded on the rear. Monty
