Musket Ball...I think...

Can anyone tell me if this is a musket ball or something newer. It was found in a field where previous French war finds were located. It is lead and is approximately .5 to .75 of an inch in diameter. It has a seam and a small indentation. Thanks...

Thats What It Is, The Ring Is The Mould Mark And The Indent Is Where The Sprue Was Cut Off After It Cooled. trk5capt...

if it was'nt lead what would it be, I just tossed one just like it in the trash, because it was'nt lead!!!!

It sure looks like a musketball.

The old musketballs I find are coated with a white patina. Did you clean it romeo?

Hopefully it's a musketball......Cool ! Man, I wish I was back in the good ol' maritimes to do some detectin' ! Yep...they are haying there now so in a day or so the grass will be just right for detecting.
