I was in a very old mining area of Oregon today, playing with the metal detector looking for gold veins. This area is in a heavily wooded area, a lot of the original towns in Oregon are in the valleys below where i was. anyways, it was about 5 inches down and wedged in a hard compact clay/rock clod. Im almost positive its a Musket Ball, anyone confirm?

It looks like it is made of iron, musketball would be lead.

I read something about Mill Balls that were made of iron.
Don't remember the details, though.
Might be worth looking into.
