Howdy all,
I just got back from an all day relic hunt. Wore out, but it was great fun--after a super long drought that seems like years, I finally found a few things other than tab tops and shotgun shell brass! Although they're not great and I am too tired to clean them up for pictures, i did wash up one thing I thought was neat--looks like a clipped corner belt plate, but with all the attachments on back, it appears to have been fastened securely to something other than a belt. I would appreciate any thoughts on what this may be since I'm clueless on this one! Thanks!

Thank you for the information. You mean like a ladies makeup case? If you have any pictures of yours, I would LOVE to see them!

Those things on the back would’ve been used like tacks to fasten that metal piece to a trunk or something possibly even leather. I believe it is what’s known as a trunk plate. Very cool find and looks to be late 1700s - mid1800s!

Hi, nice find. Congrats:icon_thumright:

It's the same size & shape as most horse blinkers made of brass with a similar fitments. However, these cause a big debate & in my opinion have not been properly classified yet. Belt Plate just doesn't work for me, & the truck plate is a player but to be honest I'm not 100% sure what they are. Other than they attached to leather. (I think on horses)
