I just bought A 1 month old Silver µmax and a mint Musketeer Advantage for a total of $240 shipped. I am only keeping one of them and I would like some opinions. This will be my first real detector as an adult but I am not worried about any learning curves. I want to know how they rank in there respective line ups. If you got them for the same price which would you keep and why? :help:

You got a good deal on those and I do not know what you hunt for but both are good relic machines. I have used both of them and to me there a are a couple of things good going for the tesoro and that is they carry a lifetime warrenty and they will work on them also even if your not the original owner. Plus it runs on 1 9 volt battery and is lighter. The advantage has a DD coil and will go deeper but it is a little heavier and takes 8 AA batteries. The advantage has better depth and target seperation and the manual ground balance is a plus also............I personally would stick with the advantage. It is a shame you can not keep one for a back up, Tim

I agree with Bigtim!!
I also have a Musketeer and have found targets in heavily hunted areas.
The Tesoro does have it's advantages... light weight, 1 nine volt battery, and lifetime warranty, but the Musketeer is more versitle due to the adjustable ground balance.
If I could only keep one, it would be the Musketeer for sure!!
The best thing to do is try both out yourself and see which one suits you best and then make your decision.
I don't think you will have any problem selling either detector.. both have very good reputations.
Good luck,
Felix

Thanks for the advice. I will probably spend a couple of hours with both and then decide.
