Ok, noob question here. What's the deal with muffler's? I read somewhere a while back that mufflers were being "stolen" or maybe it was catalytic converters or something like that for the material in em. I just changed my exhaust out (02 dodge diesel) so I dont have a catalytic converter per se, but it does have a chamber before the muffler. Just making sure, I don't want to get bent over when I take it to scrap. (never took anything to scrap before) Oh yeah, do I take the copper pipe that I had to change out in the house or should I hang on to it. - thinking that prices are going up

catalytic converters are the ones getting stolen....some of them are worth a fortune.....if you don't have one on your vehicle the other thing may be a resonator...not sure what it does..but it isnt worth any more than just basic scrap iron.....hope this helps

Resonator - that sounds right. TYVM for the help. The exhaust system is still a heavy booger though.

There is Platinum in catalytic converters. Some worth more than others. Mufflers are practically worthless for scrap.

I think some have some other metals too, Palladium comes to mind for some reason, can't think of where I read that though ???
