Mucket?

My brother and I were hunting a woods for relics when we came across a very old wagon road. My brother found this in a wagon rut. He called it a mucket, any ideas? It has letters or sommething it looks like it is punched in. can't make letters out.

My brother was a Civil War Reenactor for many years they called their drinking cup [and everthing else] a mucket. Could this be Civil War period?
