I found this little piece a couple days ago. It went right in the scrap bucket as another piece
of melted, metal blob. But, after rinsing this thing I THINK I'm seeing a pattern. Could be just my eyes.

Still, since we all love a puzzle, I'm putting it up here to see what the expert riddle solvers can conclude.

I do not think it's a rare and wonderful find. I also don't think it's the key to the holy grail. LOL

But, anyway:

The whole thing is metal, non-magnetic, doesn't test well for silver, weighs in at a whopping 1 gram!

The metal appears even more silver/grayish in person. Is there a test for pewter?

I've done about all I could do to clean up. There were/are some indications
of iron rust spots that appear to be from outside the piece. A tiny bit of
electrolysis and they pretty much fell off.

The second pic is the back and it appears to be flat. The front is more convex. The whole shape
reminds me of a heart shape.

The main reason I'm even trying to find out what this piece might be is that I thought
I saw raised letters/symbols and a design on the front.

The little arrow points to what my eyes were seeing a letter "K". :dontknow:

I have to apologize for the pictures as I am just not equipped to take detailed close ups. I had to
"McGyver" quite a bit to get even these. Click on the pic to get a bigger version.

Thanks for the help and don't get too in depth, (unless it is the key to the holy grail ;) )

Looks like a blob of rapidly cooled soldering dropping.

These photos are much clearer than the others; I can see the patterns.

Interesting find :)

Hi Breezie!

Glad that you are seeing what is there instead of just assuming and concluding. But, I put it up for opinions. All are welcome. :)

I can see how random patterns might show up as something recognizeable. Like I can see where the "K" could very easily not be. But, on this
piece, there appear to be too many "coincidences". Also, I tested for solder, it's NOT solder. ;)

Thanks again and nice to see ya!

It could of been something, however with all the lines it appears it melted onto something..I find a lot of stuff that looks like that on the river beach's around here

It might be a piece, that was once soldered/melted to connect to a ring or some such.

I was hoping that, if that was the case, that somebody might recognize the pattern. Some know jewelry like I know detecting.

I thinks it's the result of drinking beer out of an aluminum can next to a campfire and then tossing those empty aluminum cans in to that campfire.

Right on, there is a ton of that stuff over in the Oregon dunes where the ATV's ride and camp. I hate it, the MXT loves it. They throw the cans in the fire, then later on blast threw there blowing the melted stuff all over the place.

I find that stuff all the time too but it usually has absorbed the carbon/junk/sand from the fire. This is cleaner than that and I suspect it's the result of a plumber or tin knocker soldering something.

Yup, can stew.

Thanks for your opinions.

It's nicely patterned so I doubt the canslaw theories. Sorry.

Unless someone recognizes the pattern, we will NEVER know, for sure.
Worth a shot and I'm a VERY patient person.

If your inclined, maybe do an ink stamp with it so you can see if there is a design after all

The "pattern" looks like irregular cooling of a molten glob of solder of other low melting temperature metal. There is nothing there but random puckering and the cast of the dirt or cement surface the glob formed on . . . IMHO. Hot something falls on cold something and it cools and puckers as the surface is cooler than the core.

Let's keep it respectful please.

It reminds me or a melted seal that is missing the wire.
