MS46 Sluice

What kind of mat was that at the front of the sluice? I'm thinking it was something different than just v-mat, while my v-mat holds the gold real good it doesn't hold much black sand at all and in the video where he panned just the mat material there was alot of black sand.

Its vortex matting... I have the smaller version... works well. I am going to change the indoor outdoor carpet with nomad matting.

Okay I went and checked it out. Compared it to the Jobe 45 inch Yellow Jacket Stream Sluice, they were selling both. From first appearance the MS46 was impressive, while only being 1 inch longer it was 2 inches wider giving it a massive appearance in comparison. The MS46 was also made out of thicker alluminum, making it very solid. The MS46 also had different types of riffles, and the rubber mat. After looking at them both I decided to get the MS46. And I headed out to the creeks. I was cuerious as to how the rubber matting would work as well as the different types of riffles. First thing I noriced after setting it up was that the cream colored powder coating of the body really made it easy to see the black sands as you feed the sluice. And seeing as wide as the sluice is, it was easy to just keep feeding the sluice and not over feed it.
Clean up was kind of a pain. The sluice is so big that it was kind of a hassle, but having both the carpet and the rubber mat pull out was a nice feature. Also there have been a minor change to the riffle rack. it is now hinged so thats a plus. I got a pan of cons from the black mat as well as another outta the sluice and carpet. Also it isn't very portable, because of it's size and the thicker metal it isn't something you want to carry too far, it's heavy. But once you have it set up you can sure run some dirt throught it.

Would I recommend this, hell yeah I would. Made of top quality materials and they didn't skimp in any way. But keep in mind you don't want to carry it too far maybe a mile at the most and don't be in a rush for the clean out.
I will post some pics of it when I get off work later today.
