Hello all.

I'm new to the site but not to treasure hunting.

While stationed in Colorado Springs, CO I began my treasure hunting. I've panned gold out of Buena Vista, metal detected in the ghost town in Sherman, WY and found old bullets. Had I more time, I'd have more interesting stories.

Now I'm in the Gainesville, FL area and I stumbled on my newest find while landscaping my yard-a 1879 Morgan Silver Dollar. This has re-ignited my treasure hunting desire.

My yard is off the beaten path, two miles from the nearest town. So of course I look at my find and ask myself "how did this end up here?"

I'd love to learn more about the area, its history and look for other treasures, of course!

I'm still a pretty green treasure hunter, and new to the area. I'd love a friend or two to treasure hunt with-so shoot me a message if you are in the Gainesville area, especially if you are knowledgeable about Micanopy, Fl.

Thanks! Where in PA? I lived by the Deleware Wayer Gap when I was a kid.

Thanks! I have traveled from corner to corner of the lower 48, except for the northwest. So I've gotten to see lots of cool stuff.

It was NJ to NH, MA, CO, ND, AL, CA, WY, finally FL.

Been through Co.Springs many times traveling through on vacation. Red Rocks and then over Royal Gorge, have camped all over Co.

I lived in Denver while in Air force at Lowery AFB. I see you were in ND, would that have been Minot? I also lived there, but wasn't in air force any longer then.

I have also seen a lot of the country, been in every state west and south of NY and Pa. Never been north of NY into the New England states but have been up into NY and west into Pa.

1879 morgan -- moonshining ever cross your mind ?--- dollar coins during that time were a days wages and the loss of one would be like losing a $100 bill today * not something to take lightly -- plus most folks did not carry dollar sized coins about in their pockets , just like most folks today do not carry wads of $100 bills. --to find one is a great find. --look for more as folks used to stash cash in mason jars quite often in the old days --where you found one there maybe more.

Awesome! Thanks! What part of CA? I lived in Lompoc for a little bit. Beautiful area there.

Thanks! I hope my luck continues to hold up.
