There is a mound near me I often drive by that doesn't match the geology of the area. It is more steeply angled than anything surrounding it and seems to stand out. I think the area was mined for lye at some point and maybe it just got pushed up by that.

Sorry the pics are so distant I was wearing shorts and didnt want to walk through grass as there is a lot of ticks there. I don't think it's a burial mound it's just kind of out of the ordinary and you can't help buy notice it from road I often drive by it on. Thought I'd post it to see if you guys think it looks abnormal too.

It's probably a natural formation. The rock in the mound may be a harder type than the surrounding area which was eroded down and left this mound standing. Is there a history of volcanic activity in the area?

Yeah possibly it's the Lyme formation next to a mountain called Mt Diablo here in the SF Bay Area, I know the Orinda formation nearby was volcanic, I found kimberlite there too. The uplift around my area is strange it often has shelf like ledges form naturally when big fault slips occur.

There are some great rockhounding locations near here but they are all off limits and fenced off, it's public land but you can't enter... I would like to fossil hunt the Lyme ridge spot but it has signs saying nothing but walking allowed lol so that's what I do. Kirker pass near me has good formations too and a suspicious looking crater I want to check out, but that has barbed wire around it, frustrating but whatever lol.

Rock clubs and connections get you into areas like you wanna get into boom.

Not onto east bay parks land or mt diablo state park unless I'm missing an awesome club. I know there are some cool clubs in CA I just wanted to look near my house because I haven't been able to go too far from home recently, mostly I just felt like whining lol, thanks for the suggestion though.
