We knew better to think that yesterday would continue but we were hoping it might. Seems as though we hit the best area yesterday, which for a 300 acre field is pretty good going.

2 Jettons
3 scrappies
Broken medieval buckles
Broken Roman Brooch.
Part of a Roman folding knife - first one of this type for us :)

Best find a lead/pewter Medieval Seal Matrix - the best we have ever found ;D
UPDATED:

Seal reads:
+ SIGILL WILELM IEVM

Means 'Seal of Wilelm Jeum'

When I found it in the field I had no idea. When I cleaned it became more obivious (only because I have seen them for sale so many times).

Very nice knife Cru, and the button count is wonderful! (then the rest of us don't have to dig and save them!!!)

Your seal matrix is incredible. Nice work, Crusader. Those are all wonderful finds.

Best Wishes,

Buckles

Crusader, well done on the seal matrix
Any chance of tracking down the matrix owner's decedents? . . . or would this just a glancing thought. . . ???

Very nice!

With hundreds of hours research at the right places, a expert might be able to track down the history of the individual. But there is no chance of tracing blood lines of 600 years of family history unless they are high status. This would belong to a middle ranking merchant or possibly monk.
