Mother's Day Merc; it's a 16, now let's look at the back

Miss halfdime will be 16 at the end of May, so once in a while I let her drive around my mother's spacious back yard (I ride shotgun). Shortly after our ride began, my phone gave me the Facebook Messenger chime and it said "Mike posted a picture." I have several friends named Mike and so I had no idea what to expect. I opened the picture and saw a dirt encrusted 1916 Merc! I replied quickly, "Do not clean it and call me immediately!" The phone rang. "Hey, Mike, if that has a Denver mintmark on the back it's a valuable coin! Turn it over and look near the rim at 7 or 8 O'clock and see if there's a D." The back of the coin, which was corroded a bit, required a bit of scrutiny. "Take a picture of it and text it to me." This Mike did, and, alas, it appears that he did not find a 16-D for Mother's Day. "Our house is over one hundred years old." I groaned and said, "That's not the only old coin in your yard!" Mike suggested I make a road trip, probably a couple or three hours. I might just do that!

Ya know what? If I ever find a 1916 dime, I am NEVER going to look at the back! ;)
I'll put it in a holder without a window in the back! ;)

I just found a 1917 a few days ago, so close! :dontknow:

You will look; you won't be able to resist! Just finding a 16-S was thrilling once.
