Are you asking if it is gold or are you saying it is? If it is then it may be of interest to mineral collectors at an increased value over that of the gold contained. Other than that, if you want the gold out of it, you can crush it and pan, etc. for recovery.

Good luck.

haha sorry, i am asking if it is gold, but that large piece is the remaining piece of the 200 lb boulder i broke to pieces. even some nuggets but im new to this

The most simple test is to check it under direct sunlight and when shaded. If it is gold it will still look like gold when it is shaded. Pyrites and the like will dull and lose their gold color when shaded. Another test is to poke it with a sharp object such as the point of a knife or an ice pick. Gold is malleable and will dent while non gold will chip. If you were to crush those chips and it flattens then it is likely gold. Non gold will shatter.

Good luck.

PS I like the looks of the piece you are holding. The smooth gold colored areas are what gold would look like if it was naturally tumbled in river action.

You can check it with a metal detector if you have access to one. Or crush and pan it.

another way is to wipe some on the back of a ceramic tile..if it leaves a gold mark ..thats what it is

it does leave a gold streak. i got a lot of good sized nugget chunks out as well so far and the quarts breaks away from some of the veins when brushed. what about this? found downslope of said outcrop
