Well decided to play hooky from work today as I missed out on Sunday's hunt…. hunthicks and I decided to try a site that was hard hit over the years as we are saving our new spots when our detecting bud get back in town and do a 3 day hunt…I looked at the large site and figured there had to be finds around and quickly started to think how many people neglect the edges of the fields…7 Geo II coins came out in a small area along with a french cross with stone in it with one missing and also a french bale seal… not the best picture but you can see the 3 fleur de lys and crown at the top…Other finds from another close by field include a couple dozen musket balls, buttons with one with the material on the back, gaming pieces, my first canteen top, ram rod thimble, spoon, cannon ball, crotal bells, buckles and large mortar frag.

Man that's a good bunch of digs! Congrats on all the colonial finds!

Thanks, it was nice to get out and hit a site that produced like that....

If that's the edges, that place must have been loaded!
Those are great finds considering the heart if the site has been concentrated on for so long!

Man, looks like a killer spot !! Nice finds

We'd be hard pressed to dig that many 1700s coppers even at a new site here! I think we'd have to go back to the NJ site for that many.... the last few years our better coin days seeming to be mostly early 1800s.

It was a good day out! Weather was perfect for me, kinda cold and damp haha. Dug lots of old targets, had the silver scare once or twice. And I'm sure there's more in that area for sure. I'll get my finds posted up after a bit.

Most excellent indeed! You got a great assortment. Where does that put you in the Cannonball Count?

Dream hunt !!! Love those old coppers! Keep pounding that site. HH

Excellent hunt! Wow, that's a lot of goodies. The bale seal is awesome. Then 7 kgs?! Holy smokes. My best is two in a day.

Congrats on making a "sick day" count!

King George called...he's running out of coppers

even finding one makes for a good day, 7 is spectacular!

Honestly, I lost count...not that many...maybe 15-16 or a few more....thought I had them all cleaned up and displayed but they pop out now and then... There is a good chance a few more will pop out next week and maybe a cob or 2 :)

That's a good solid day of dirt digging. Seems spring season just got started, and is nearly over. Hope I can have at least one more.

Aren't you glad our ancestors didn't practice recycling lol? Hunts like that are what keep it interesting and fun still after our " normal " ones when we almost get skunked.

Outstanding haul for a well-hit site. And I think I see a 17th century spectacle buckle in the pile. Nice seal too.

Nice! That's a great bunch of relics! Congrats!

Good eye Bill... you are correct, too bad it's broken....gets my hope up there's a cob sitting on that site....
