took my grand daughter out for the usual half hour, we picked a few scrapers, broke fishing sinker, pottery rim piece

Nice artifacts Steve. That scraper is made out of some nice looking material. I always enjoy seeing the artifacts you find.
 

it is a piece of cedar from a burnt earth lodge
not western red cedar, it is called badlands cedar.....and a few other names....one of them is aromatic cedar

Very interesting post Steve, I was wondering do you or anyone have any idea who burned the wood from the lodge's natives that came after the earlier generations or early pioneer farmers clearing the land ?
