Mormon pin/badge?

I found this today at a local park. Sorry if the pictures come across a little fuzzy. It is a type of pin that you are supposed to wear on your clothing and on the back of the medallion it had lds church inscribed. I assume that lds stands for Latter Day Saints or in other words this is some sort of Mormon badge? The top part of the pin says faith in God. Hopefully one of you treasure hunters is a Mormon and can elaborate on what this is for. It is only about an 1 or 1 1/2 inches long so thanks for the info. HH
