Morels! (and 3 LC's)
Hit a bunch of different sites late week and this weekend. Nothing spectacular, but about managed to find a keeper at each site.
Got the 'Brakeman' hatpiece from a site that produced some coppers and a Spanish silver a few weeks ago, but didn't find much else.
Hit a field late week that has produced two seateds, and got the crusty Braided Hair LC.
Saw a house getting demoed Friday afternoon, secured permission from the backhoe operator, and got a few wheats and a buffalo nickel, which i gave to the operator.
Was about to go home, but hit a spot he had very recently scraped, and got a nice signal, if iffy, that produced the Draped Bust, 1803.
Was visiting friends a little north and hit their yard, finding lots of lead soldiers and wheats. Somewhere in the middle of all that popped up a crusty NJ copper, 1787.
I'll take it. It was shallower than all the wheats. Could have been dropped by the kids who were dropping the soldiers, or perhaps there is another story.
Today I got back from detecting and got a call from my detecting buddy, and he said he had something to show me, and he said it in a way that I was certain he had found
a Draped Bust silver or a gold coin, but when he showed up, he had a bag with a coupla black morels in it.
That got me perhaps even more excited than digging a copper, so we went on a little walk about, and managed to find a handful more.
It's a might early yet, but you can bet I'll be packing a paper bag and a knife into my kit here this week.
Happy Hunting,
Dwayne
