Back to the spot today that was in long-term use during the Civil War. I have found lots from the early 20th century too, so I realize not everything I dig up is from the Civil War. That said, here goes:

This is a large flat piece of lead that I found. I wonder if this is a lead bar that soldiers would make bullets from. Note the circular impressions in the lead. I can't help but wonder if someone was idly tapping the barrel of their gun on it.

Then there's this buckle/slide, which was about 7 inches deep and still has some leather in it. Civil War?

This is all smashed up but looks like the top to some kind of shaker. I think the top piece probably turned. Have no idea how old this is.

Finally, this enormous hunk of iron, which is probably nothing but I like the shape. If you have any thoughts on it, let me know!

Thanks for looking everybody! Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

The large piece of iron is from the top of a woodburning cast-iron stove. It fit in between the two circular iron inserts where the cookpots sat. I'm quite certain about that identification because I used to own a woodburning stove whose top had a piece exactly like your find.

The flat piece of lead that you found very well could be a bar that was issued to soilders for making bullets. I have found pieces of lead about that same thickness aka"camp lead". The iron piece you have is from a wood stove. Not sure what the salt /pepper shaker thing is and if the buckle is civil war , leave the old leather on it. It will be worth more $$$$$. Happy hunting and keep digging til your arms fall off8-)

Well there's definitely consensus so far on the piece of iron. As for the buckle, that's the question: Is it Civil War?
