More than $1M in gold discovered off Fort Pierce from 1715 treasure fleet... video and story ...
Treasure salvagers off the coast have recovered 60 gold artifacts from the 1715 Treasure Fleet shipwrecks valued more than $1 million. Queens Jewels, a historic shipwreck salvage operation, which owns the exclusive salvage rights to the fleet, announced the find Monday. They were found in about 15 feet of water.
The Fleet sank along Florida’s Treasure Coast on July 31, 1715, 300 years ago this week. The salvage operation recovered 51 gold coins and 40 feet of ornate gold chain.

Insane to see them just laying on the bottom. But made me cringe to see him rubbing the dirt off with his fingers!!!!

15' ! Just 15' ! Anyone can get treasure at that depth.... Of course, you have to find the wreck first....

Just yikes is all I can manage to say.

uh those 1715 ship wreck sites ( in the water) are owned by the QUEENS JEWELS COMPANY ..who got the rights to the wrecks from buying them from mel fishers children .....many years ago Mel Fisher had to fight the state of Florida in the court for the "rights" them... ..so not just "anyone" can hunt those spots in the water ... however that being said the nearby sand beaches from the high tide water mark to dunes foot is publicly open to metal detecting

40 FEET IN GOLD CHAIN . MY GOD I WOULD LOVE TO FIND JUST A FOOT OF GOLD CHAIN BUT 40 FEET IS JUST INSANE. IT WOULD BE NEAT TO BE PART OF SOMETHING THAT HISTORICAL AND BE PART OF THE SEARCH AND RECOVERY THE GOLD COINS LOOKED AS IF BRAND NEW.

Betcha lil Wayne is the first on the list to buy that gold chain....lol that's a dream come true treasure right there...if anything everyone on this site just quit metal detecting....was gonna post my 4 barbers but forget it lol...awesome finds

since personal "jewelry" was tax exempt from the 20% royal duty tax for items being returned to Spain many wealthy persons had "money chains" made to "wear" in loops about their necks thus the 40 foot gold chain ..that if it were a bar of gold 20% of it ( equal to 8 ft) would have been taken as the 20% kings cut ...but as personal "jewelry" worn looped about the neck none of it was taken for "taxes" ...

Can you imagine forty feet wrapped around your waist as you traveled? I wonder what google earth shows in these water,,,,, 15 feet!

Yep They found it Before I Could Talk Red On to An Airplane ~~~LOL
