A buddy of mine asked me to go field hunting today where we have found civil war ear bullets in the past . We started out a little before 10 and man it was slow going. Mostly trash. I did find a few bullets, grape shot. But really not my cup of tea. TOO SLOW. About 1130 I said lets go find some coins. So we headed back in town to some of the houses he owns. Did find some clad, .89 cents. He had to leave around 1400 so I thought I'm going back to some old dirt. I decided on a place I have hunted a couple times and where I found my Barber half last summer. Worked my way back to the back yard, not finding anything but trash. Then I got a 12/45, sweet tone. You know what that means, SILVER !!! The 3030 said it was 9" . Luckily the ground is very soft right now, so I dig down and YAHOOOO out pops a Beautiful Barber Quarter, 1900. I havent found a Barber Quarter since last summer so I walked over into the timber and DID MY HAPPY DANCE so nobody could see. YAHOOOO!! I continued my way to the back yard and hit a 12/39 sounded good, 4", why not. In the bottom of my plug i instantly see that dark green patina. I know I have an old wheatie or and IHP. Extract it and its a 1902 IHP, in excellant shape also. YAHOOOOO! I continued on into the back yard and hit the silver crucifix. It also is in nice shape. Not sure if its silver or not, rang up a 12/43 at 6".. Still was a nice find for me. I hunted in Relic mode out in the country but once I started coin hunting I ran in Silver, +3, Fast On, Ground Coin. Beautiful day here in Kansas, Great day to hunt and a good hunt for me. (The last picture is of all the trash I dug relic hunting., I havent dug that much trash in a long time, lol)
