I just recieve my new 3D last week, and have found more silver this week then I have in a few months...
The 62 Roosevelt was found in my neighbors backyard at about 3" down
Went to the another local park. I had a good high-tone, showing 4" on the depth meter, I cut a plug about 4" deep, and the 1946 Roosevelt was sit'n on the bottom on it's edge. I re-checkced the kole noth'n,,, re-checked the plug ,and (Tink, Tink ), the 1943 Mecury was at about 2" down... Seems odd that the Roosevelt was deeper then the Mercury,,, but then again,,, when does this hobby not surprize you...

WTG! Always nice when you dig silver. Love those Merc's. Perhaps coin on edge was deeper because
they tend to slice thru the dirt faster and meet less resisitance than a coin flat down.

That is why most large coins like silver dollars etc. are usually not real deep in soil. The surface area is so much larger than say a dime, and provides that much more resistance as it sinks down in soil. Course in sand the opposite is probably true - heavier coins do seem to sink deeper. Just my theory...

Man, Leon's really pulling in the goodies now. Maybe i should start thinking bout a trade in? :D Good job, Leon! 8)
