Got a surprise call from West Bay Traders to come in today, my 1926 Sesquicentennial gold $2.50 quarter eagle was back from being graded by NGC about 2 weeks earlier than expected. It was graded an MS62. Posting this here because many members may not have seen the original post in the CoinStar forum, and this was certainly an exceptional find. That is correct, I found a GOLD commemorative quarter eagle in a CoinStar machine. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed in the MS62 grade. After comparing mine to others for sale on the web I was hoping for a 63-64. But hey, how disappointed could one be with finding, at no cost other than glancing at a coin return, a historical US coin, not to mention being worth several hundred dollars. No swinging my Legend in FL heat, no sweating, no digging. I'm posting some of my original find photos along with the graded coin.

That's amazing - congrats !

That had to be a serious "you gotta be kidding me" moment when you saw first saw it!
👍
I always just casually walk away and don't look in my hand till I'm well away from the machine. When I finally looked, and then looked really close, they almost needed a clean up on aisle 7.

Beautiful!!

p.s. Don't take pics under fluorescent lights...

Thanks for that tip. Not shot under fluorescents though. I chose a filter in the Paint editing app that I thought showed off the coin itself to best advantage. I like your version just as well.
