I’m becoming a believer. I’ve always been a hard-boiled skeptic. But as Nathan Bedford Forrest said late in life, “I’m not the same man that I was before.”

For the New Year, I had a resolution to start looking for gold instead of mainly silver coins. That meant forcing myself to dig tabs and lots of trash, and to look in different places than I had been looking. But mostly, it meant I had to have faith that I wasn't wasting my time. I'm not a man with a lot of faith normally...

I believe…I do , I do, I do…

I found my first gold ring in January, and today…yes! My second! It’s very small and thin, 1.91 grams, and only 10k…but hey, gold is gold. Nothing like the gleam of a gold ring emerging from the sod, right?

Its melt value today is about $44 (gold is down).

It was almost full dark, and I was walking back to my car after about 40 minutes at my local park. I was just pointing my machine straight ahead. I wasn’t sweeping, but if I hit a good signal I would dig it.
You should know, I ‘d already cleaned this area near the parking fairly good already, but I don’t work methodically when I’m so close to home because I want to keep it going for a long time, that is, so I can keep coming back and have a chance to hit something I missed before.
And I did finally hit a signal close to the picnic area just ahead of the parking. This is the area, by the walkway, which is most used by families and little girls doing cartwheels. I'd found 2 sterling charms, a small, unmarked sterling ring with initials scratched into the front plate, and an intricate sterling anklet and much costume jewelry, and one sterling wedding band in this area already (not counting a 925 toe ring on the other side of the walkway in the picnic area). The boys and bigger people playing sports go further out in the field. Way out there was where I had found the man's lion head gold ring in Jan.

I pulled a quarter out from just under the surface, but now there was a pulltab/nickel signal almost in the same spot.

Yeah, that was it. I pulled it out and walked right to my nearby vehicle and drove away quick so I could get a look at it back home. Funny, this was almost an exact repeat of the experience a few weeks back with that silver wedding band i mentioned above.
I couldn’t make it out too good in the car with only a dim dome light and my fading eyesight. But I didn't need to read the hallmark, I was already pretty sure I had my 2nd gold ring. :laughing7:

I'm beginning to feel like a proper pirate, I am. I'm wearing both rings, and a honking big sterling pendant I also found in January. I never used to wear jewelry.

Nice!!! I always keep my 'coil to the soil' until I get back to the car (plus Ive been diggeing tons of junk too!), so Im glad to see that it is paying off in the field. I cant wait to see what #3 looks like!!!

Keep it Up!!!
