All finds are from a 3 day weekend on post and one trip to a German playground.

The Scare: dug behind a housing area, after digging about 2 inches my heart stopped. I instantly recognized the three prongs on a anti-personnel mine. I stopped and assessed the situation. Switched to the screwdriver and LIGHTLY probbed the sides. Luckily it was just the upper fuze assembly and the mine was not in the ground. The fuze belongs to the M2 bounding mine.

Notable Finds:
High School football gold ring (will attempt to return)
1947 Nickle
1942 Nazi Coin
Austrian Coin

Biggest suprise: German playground yields 7 Euro in 30 minutes ( check the exchange rate).
I'm really happy with the performance on the XLT.

Great finds. There's nothing like a mine scare to get the blood pumping. I've been there too. The funny thing is that no matter how scared you get you'll always go back hunting pretty much immediately. Luckily your all in one piece to be scared again some other day.

your nuts..........good finds

I can tell you i spent 2 years in the Army and 8 in the USMC 2nd Force recon. Those mine parts all have some explosive in them from what i remember. Please be careful and if i were you i would discard it ASAP.

I may be wrong but i have to say...I do remember finding a blasting cap from a 81mm mortar that looked harmless...Needless to say EOD came right out and blew the sucker up!!!

Holy smokes!!! Way to go IROC!!!
Great haul you got there. By the way, I currently have a mint 87 IROC with 13k miles sitting in my garage right now. Red, t-tops, 350 , loaded. My brother just bought it, and I am storing it for him. Those IROC's sure are sweet.
Congrats on your finds,
MM

Nice assortment of finds. I could of done without finding the fuse. I bet the pucker factor went way up on that dig. Good Luck on returning the ring.

Glad to hear you still have all of your fingers. I think I'd turn that thing over to Ordnance. But if it isn't live, it's a good souvenir. Good job on the rest of the finds.

WOW thats cool!! I found 2 z 44? mine fuses (still had their pins on, and these were made of bakelite). Thats cool that you found a bouncing betty mine fuse!

Glad it wasn't attached to anything. Its prob worth a little bit. I have a few websites I use as reference in case I come across "dangerous" stuff. If you want some info PM me and I can send you some sites. HH!!

whew... scary indeed. At leas you were rewarded with the nice gold ring for your stress. Congrats and good luck returning it, WTG!

Smiles!

Awesome finds! I stopped by Bamberg last Friday and did some shopping on post, there are several playgrounds there and I also spotted a nice sand volley ball court. I considered hitting the VB court but figured you had already pounded it, LOL, and if not, it is just down the road from the commissary, there are two courts that I saw. If you want, PM me your phone or better your cell phone number, I will give you a call the next time I stop by and maybe we can hunt around some old WWII barracks for some American silver and bottle caps, LOL. Would be good to meet you. HH, Mike

Modern Miner: I have an 88 IROC with many miles and mods sitting in storage while I'm here in Germany.

Viper: PM your sites, I really like to see pics of what you find there in your area.

Bavaria Mike: Bamberg is a great city and has a great post, the VB court is very new and has nothing in it. The playgrounds have been heavily hunted by me, all the kids know me :).
I'll PM my number we can hunt the post, I haven't ever had any problems hunting on post. I'll trade you for a hunt on a farm (if they have not planted yet).
Thanks All
HH

Good hunt! Germany is a hunters dream!!
