These were found in the box car with dog tag from previous post. The Ohio pin is steel with brass eagle , the nut on back is plastic. it is 1 1/2" dia. Seems large for a uniform pin.

The crossed rifle pin is brass I think. 1" dia.

pan am pin reads" junior clipper pilot " around the bottom . made from stamped copper. 2 1/4 " wide. with safety type pin on back.

any info ? thanks.

The Pan Am is a cap badge. It looks like the blue has worn off. I believe these are toys from the 30's-60's. They also make a junior clipper stewardess pin. pan am hat badge.webp

They seem to have made this design thru the 60's but the metal looks different on the newer ones. Because yours is copper and considering what you found it with, I am guessing WWII era.

Last time I flew on PanAm they were handing out pot metal pins like that to the kids on the flight. That was several years ago, mid- 1960 ish. Monty

That good information, Monty. I think that solves it. The copper ones must be older.

I can confirm Montys post , Pan Am did give these to all the kids on a flight. My family flew to Scotland via London using Pan Am from California in 1970 and each of us kids were given that exact same badge.I still have one.

Im no expert and i dont have the badge at hand , its at my Moms house in Scotland , i moved to Pa last year and oddly it was one of the things i left behind after keeping it so long..maybe not so odd but it did surface around the time i left this time and i made sure my Mom put it away as a keepsake as i had done.
What i would say is they were very brightly coloured perhaps feigning a gold look , could be mistaken for copper in time as it tarnished as they do.

Thanks everyone for your info , I think these are solved. The pan am pin is copper but after I saw pic from big c I looked close and can see gold color plating in low spots, so think they may have all been copper. If you look at first link from big c you can see the back is copper only front is plated. Also mine does have blue its just hard to see with my cheap cam.

Yes, yours is copper. Its a safe guess to say that this pin went thru the usual transformation over the years from copper, to pot metal, to plastic. Nothing is copper anymore not even pennies lol but yours is probably a 40's version. Here is a 1980's version that is plastic and probably more than you wanted to know about Pan Am Airlines. ;D http://cgi.ebay.com/PAN-AM-Pan-Amer...ItemQQimsxZ20090217?IMSfp=TL090217119008r9508

Yes Big C, I know you are right they were made from different materials over the years. I guess I worded that wrong just meant that the version I have and one from your first link are same mine just has gold color plating worn of. And that these versions are made of same base metal , copper.
I see what you mean, that is a lot of pam am info.
