Sunday was another nice day in Pennsylvania; Kiros32 and I went out to our 1800's foundation site for the afternoon. As usual, we busted rear, moving stone, sifting soil, etc., with little to show for our efforts. I did find a couple interesting pieces, including the top of a salt/pepper shaker and this rectangular piece. I showed the rectangle to Kiros32 and he knew instantly what it was - part of an old clock. He's found one himself at some point. Upon further review (post cleanup), the piece says "Seth Thomas" on the first line and "Thomaston, Conn" on the second. At one point, we got to talking and I mentioned the large cent I'd found in December; somehow, Kiros32 missed the post and hadn't heard about it. To satisfy his curiosity, I'm posting the picture of that as well.

Nice finds. That LC has a whole (square) like mine did. One of the members on her told me that they used to drive square nails into them to hold shingles on the roofs of houses. Your's looks like it is square too

I'm relatively new here so I also missed your original post on the LC.
It is a beauty, hole or not. I think the hole in this case gives it character, especially now that you have a likely story to add to it.
