Very nice finds you have there. When you say digging, how is it that you pick the spot to dig? I mean, what do you look for to make yourself say, "Dayum, I think I'll dig right here" LOL You know what I mean. :laughing7:

a few more ......

well this spot I have been digging for about 2 months now. it has rock shelters above and across from it, old dry creek running through it. looked like a great place for stuff to have been dropped, sweep, and lost to me since the shelters were already dug through.

Gosh--you must be moving a lot of dirt :o ;D !
Those are some awesome finds, Tree!
(Great photography of the finds, too  !)

:hello2: Tree you are hammering that area good. Look at everything they missed. Are you finding much in the old dry creek bed? Some look like they have been in the shelters with the deposits on them. It looks like a long time of occupation as well. No telling what all else you will find there. You finding many nut stones?
Great hunts and pictures!

TnMtns

Ohio Doug, I am only using a small hand three fingered scrapper and pulling dirt into a 5gal bucket, finding some by eye doing that. everything in the bucket then gets sifted. I am pulling 4 5gal buckets and filling em, then sifting all 4 buckets to be sure nothing gets by me.
TnMtns, yea I have to take my chainsaw and cut down a couple trees before they fall over, I've dug the roots all up, not much dirt holding it in place now.
Ive not found any nutting stones so far, 4 pestles so far though. all within 15 ft of each other.
I found a big broke base in the creek bed the other day. Ive not really looked in there much yet, it is dry and big rocks in it. Im actually thinking after Im finished with the digging on the bank, move some of the rock from the bed and start digging there too. No telling what has washed down in there under those rocks over all that time. Especially with what has come off the bank just 3 ft away.
Tn the dirt I'm digging in reminds me of what I've seen in shelters, strong smell, all black as coal and falls apart so easy you could almost go through it with your fingers.
This has been the best producing area and easiest work I've ran into.
Man was the point gods smiling on me.....
Tree

Tree up on carter mtn above Winchester Tn off of the shelters we would get in those dry creek beds and like you said roll out the large boulders and see what they trapped in the silt. Some cool stuff came out. I bet you will find many more when you get to them. I will be back hunting with a vengence before to long.
Good luck and hope your business is doing well.
Happy holidays
