Hit three sites this afternoon with the GPX 5000, does it ever like to hunt. :)

Ended up digging a 69 cal, a Gardner, a GS coat button, and the nice Flying Eagle as part of the fun. Unfortunately, after cleaning off the mud some of the definition diminished from the coin. :-[

Also found these two small cap looking things. All in all not bad for 4.5 hours in the fields. Thanks for looking!

nice flying eagle!! still trying to get one. are those cap looking things percussion caps? ive found those and thought thats what they were. willy

I agree. Percussion caps. Excellent CW relics. :hello2:
Congrats to you,
MM

Love digging those Fatty's Mach1....Nice save's

Thanks for the ID on the percussion caps! I feel so dumb not thinking of that! :icon_pirat: When I dug the first I didn't get too interested... then found the second one and realized there must be something to them... :) Never dug something that tiny in times prior with the Etrac. This new machine rocks on relics.

A flying eagle has been on my list for a while, glad to get that one. Now the goal is to find the other two years. ;D :icon_profileright:

The Gardner was a surprise, everything else on this site has been Union. A last minute shift in strategy took me to a different part of the site where I found this one. The round balls are .62 cal. Are they Confederate too? - they were found in the area of the Gardner.

Maybe I can get lucky and find a cool CS button in the area next time it gets hit.

Nice Civil War relics. I'd bet there is a good Confederate button or plate in their somewhere. Good luck and hope you keep us informed on you future finds. James

Dang, thats a real nice Flying Eagle cent!! Dont see those .69 Gardiners real often either.. Great hunt my friend  :headbang:
