Wasn't sure we were going to be able to get out in the field yesterday due to it being the first day of deer hunting season, but we were surprised to see absolutely no activity at this location. I brought along Reid and we decided to use the 15" coil on our F75s to try and pick out any deep coins I may have missed on Friday. I started things off nicely by digging a faint, erratic and scratchy signal that I would usually never dig. But based on what's been coming out from this site I could not leave any tone undug. Anyway, after several shovelfuls of dirt there was still a signal in the hole, and I eventually got it out and realized it was another 2 reale. That got us pumped. Not long after I got a very obvious signal right next to a row of cut corn stalks that I must have somehow missed the other day. That turned out to be another copper. Not long after that Reid pulled out his own coronet head copper. That was followed by a lengthy drought of good signals. At some point I got to thinking that since this part of the field was relatively long and narrow, and that the crops had probably always been planted in that direction, the best likelyhood for finding additional coins from this scattered spill would be to search in the direction of planting on either side of where the initial coins had been found. That strategy paid off as I ended up digging another 2 reale about 100 ft or so behind the main coin spill area. And it was not all that deep as it was a fairly obvious signal. I would like to return and expand even further out, but I would also like to get access to a GPX machine to find those that are beyond the range of our F75s. For those of you that may not have seen my post last winter, I had borrowed a friend's GPX-4000 to take back to the site where I had dug 23 hammered silver coins from 1563-1640 and was able to dig 3 more one of which came from a measured 22". So if there are any coins left that machine could certainly find them. Anyway, below is a field pic of the 2 silver coins followed by what they looked like after some light electrolysis. I'm also providing a pic of the 6 silvers and 6 coppers I've dug at this site the last 2 days after cleaning. The coppers aren't in great shape, but I'm not complaining. I'm also attaching a link to a crude youtube video that at least partially documents the finds Reid and I made yesterday. I need to come up with a hatcam setup as its very difficult to take a handheld video while you're all excited and trying to dig and locate a coin in a dirt pile. So my apologies for that. Will post any additional discoveries at this site after I've had a chance to get back there. HH ..... Bill
