Hello again all. Yesterday was a terrible day in Southern Missouri as we had tons of freezing rain!!! Regardless, I couldn't keep my tail on in the recliner as usual. I had talked to Gregd573 and bcs123 hoping they would come out with me but as I arrived (and even before during the ride there) I knew that I had to've been the only one in Missouri that didn't have sense enough to stay out of the bad weather. Oh well, I suffered with dignity. LOL!
Yesterday was not as productive as least weekend. No small caliber bullets came out of the ground. Most if not all of the bullets were shot but I did find a few nice ones with only small nicks. I also found a spoon which is surprising. Not too much comes out if the ground there besides bullets. I had resigned myself to putting the DFX though the DSM program as I had never tried it at that spot. Needless too say, there is tons of iron there. I dug a lot of it up in the hopes that maybe I was helping to clean the area out a little bit. Put it this was. I would have to hunt that area for years in order to get all the iron.
Anyway, here are the pics. I think maybe today I have the worst cold I've had in years. I still can't figure out why!!!!! Ha, ha!!! Maybe next time I'll use my brain before I venture out in that type of weather.
Hopefully next weekend is better. We are supposed to all meet at that spot for a day hunt. I think about 6 of us so far! Got my fingers crossed. I love getting together for the hunt and then of course a little lying after the hunt, lol!!!

Enjoy the pics and Happy Hunting for all,

Great finds!!! I will be glad when duck season is over so I can start back relic hunitng...d2

Ridge-Runner, Nice to hear that part of the "rowdy bunch" was able to get out there and hunt. That spoon you found looks just like it's a mate to the one I found out at the CTH on the second day. . . only difference was mine was twisted up like a pretzel :D :D. Does Greg still have that gold or did he loose it at one of the casinos you drug him to? ;D

Take care you guys & HH!

Looks like a picket post in terms of finds...except that the bullets are fired instead of dropped, carved, or pulled. Nice finds there!

Sounds like you all will have a great hunt this upcoming weekend--as long as the weather is nice. But hey, a little ice and rain never stopped anyone from diggin a few holes, right? ;) Good luck to you all.

Regards,

Hey watercolor,

Yeah, hard for me to just sit in the house when I have time so I try to find a place to detect. Stupid of me yesterday though. It was so bad here, the rain was turing to ice as soon as it hit anything. I took my tobogan off once and it had a sheet of ice on top of it. I had to put the rain jacket on the DFX so as not to ruin it. I broke one of my shovels....LOL!!! That's why last week I ordered a Predator!!!! Supposed to be here today. My wife can't understand why I'm excited about getting a shovel. She just doesn't know does she???? The kind of digging tools, "Predator"!!!!!
Anyway, it was a good hunt and if everything holds out, weather wise, next weekend we'll be out there again. Wish you were close enough to come join us. Well, thanks for the reply... HH!

OIC. BB and I go out in the sleet so you have to one-up us. ::) ;D :D :D :D

Those are great finds. I think I would soil myself if I found a CW bullet.

Can't make it next weekend but I will be thinking about you all hunting there.

I'll tell you what ME, it wasn't the smartest hunting I'd ever done.....But you know what, as long as the detector has a rain jacket I'll do it again!!!!!!! Thanks for the look!!!!

Buckleboy and Civilman,

The area that we are hunting is well known and in fact at one time a Fort sat nearby.... As far as the bullets and where they came from I think everyone's opinion is that maybe we've found a firing range. Possibly. But as a newbie at this relic hunting thing (which I've found to be very exciting) I really don't know. Thanks guys for the heads up and also for the replies.....

Happy Holidays to you and your also....

RR

Well, you are tough. I got up yesterday and thought, no way is he going out in this. I thought about going out there around noon, but that thought soon departed my brain. The spoon is a surprise. And yes, plenty of iron there. I went to all metals there once and quickly disolved that thought. I arrived at the same conclusion as you. Nice bullets though. Should be there Saturday for sure. If we could find the location of where the shots were fired, might be some dropped ones there. BTW, did you get the letter I sent? Take care and get over that cold....

Oh yea......you did it. Right after I got off the computer with you I said to myself...."self"......"he surly won't get out in that crummy weather for a few pieces of lead"......I should have know better.....lol. You found some more great looking stuff....I'm proud of ya....now go take you some more Nyquil and go to bed...lol. What time is everybody meeting next Saturday?

See ya........in the movies,

Brian,

I thought about that yesterday. I had some heavy iron signals but there were so many. One day I think I'll concentrate on the iron as well and dig it all....Or all that I can handle anyway!!!

I spent all day waiting for the power to come back on! I would have gladly gotten out in the mess instead of trying to keep my kids entertained! lol

Yeah Mike, the weather has been bad but not bad enough for the ridgerunner!!!!!! LOL

Re: More Civil War bullets, lots of Ice and Rain! Missouri Weather not Cooperati

Good job on getting out there RR... there's no way in heck you'd get me out there right now! Between the wet weather and the wind, I can barely make it around without freezing right now!! Good thing I'm leaving in two days for nice sunny 81 degree weather down in Florida for Christmas Break! I won't be back up here until January... and you won't find me complaining one bit!
Maybe I can get some detecting in down there instead!! lol
