More buttons for me! And they're even older - plus other relics

I am getting a good laugh at myself that I have spent many hours before now at this site and never found a button. Within the last 2 days I have suddenly found 7 buttons. The 1830s era ones from yesterday and today I found 3 tombacs, a plain flat and a dandy with some nice gilt remaining :hello2: I am having a blast! :laughing7:

Also found the what appears to be the top to a salt shaker, a big piece of lead with some half circles cut out of it :icon_scratch: An iron loop - any ideas? And another mystery item- that hollow object with the hole straight through it. I think it is made out of some kind of brass - I don't know for sure - but it is not iron (does not attract a magnet).

And all this is from outside the foundation. Every time I try to dig in the foundation I hit so many nails, brick and rocks that I get discouraged and move out.

Thanks for looking! ;D

Can anyone say "Dandy button?" A nice one!
Your very close to a banner find
That's funny you say salt shaker. That's what
I thought when I dug my first smoking pipe lid.
Look closely, do you see what might have been a hinge?

Shoot a close up of that please :)

You ought to dig out and sift through the dirt in the foundation  thats the only way to really get the good stuff out with that many nails

Thanks so much Mike! ;D That pipe lid sounds very cool :icon_thumleft: What I have looks to be a screw top though. The little top piece came off when I cleaned it out but here are closer pics-

Yes :icon_thumleft: I just received that good advice from someone else. It's only me digging there so that is a major undertaking. I'm considering it for spring though. ;D Until then the detecting around is keeping me busy.
