What a week this has been. Had a routine colonoscopy last Wed, had to go to the ER on Thurs in extreme pain, ran a record time in a 5k (24:42) plus did 6 hard hours in the pit on Sat with my buddy Stan, had to go back to the ER on Sun and was admitted to the hospital, been suffering from the effects of the pain meds, and had a lithotripsy procedure yesterday to break up a large 8mm stone stuck in my ureter. I could go on, but you get the picture. Anyway, I'm finally feeling up to posting a couple pics from the pit dig from last Sat. No whole bottles or seals this time (although had a couple of exciting moments), but did come home with a few clay pipe bowls, some very early tin-glazed pottery, and plenty of large wine bottle parts. Also recovered most of an early spur with the buckle still intact, although heavily corroded. Not sure if we'll be able to dig here again this spring, but it'll be waiting for us in the fall.

Wow, at least you can't say you were bored! Hope you are feeling better, that stuff you find is amazing and your book rocks!

Pit digging seems like it would be very hard work, even more fun since friends are involved, and the finds you guys make are unreal. I love your relic photos and thanks for including the one of the pit itself.--JB

Trash pit digging is the best remedy.
Interesting finds

When I first started reading this post I thought it was going to be about "today's colonoscopy finds" haha I'm glad you're ok tho.

That trash pit seems like a lot of work but way cool and interesting, thanks for sharing.

Yow, that was 10 years' worth of misery in a just few days! Plus you had it going on at both ends ! You don't need pain meds Bill. Just fondle all those great relics you've dug over the years and you'll forget all about any cannon ball sized kidney stones getting stuck in the gun barrel.

Hope you're doing better soon Bill. The pit can wait, your health is way more important. Thank's for sharing the pics tho! Thes pits are amazing!

COME ON BILL YOUR FINDS ARE KILLING ME.

You are a traveler of the most difficult routes!
Glad you are past most of the hard places. Hope all results are good.

Doing that much digging you are most certainly a survivor of life!
Rock on!!!
Awesome finds!

Ouch! Kidney stones are no joke. Anybody who has had one, or more, can attest to the excruciating pain they cause. I spoke with a woman a few months ago who has 4 kids and she stated she would rather birth all 4 kids in row versus have another kidney stone. They are considered one of the, if not THE, worst type of pain out there.

Anyway, hope you're feeling better and able to find & share more relics with us. Take care.
