monster tooth ???

I found this in Ohio when I was a little kid while visiting relatives back in the 1970's . The farmer down the road was digging a farm pond with an excavator . My friends and I were playing in the dirt piles , I found this "tooth thing" sticking out of the ground . I've had it ever since . It weighs over 3 lbs . I have been using it as a door stop . it seem too big to be from a horse or cow . Any ideas ? Thanks ,

I believe that is a mammoth(the animal, not the size) tooth, I find those here in the rivers while looking for megeladon teeth. HH omnicognic

P.S it could be from another large herbavore from the same era, like the giant ground sloth etc. A museum of natural history could tell you for sure, but it's definately a tooth!

You know I used to live in Ohio and let me tell you wild elephants were quite rare in the brush.
Is the specimen bone(recent) or rock?You did not dig up a zoo's burial ground.
Call the Geology Department at a university near where you live. Ask if they have a? vertebrate paleontologist who can look at your specimen. Mammoth teeth are quite common but other vertebrate teeth such as fossil elephant teeth(Gomphotherium) are not. Still hard to believe this well preserved specimen is a fossil. If it turned out to be a fossil it would be valuable in this condition.

No thats definitely a fossil. and I think it`s bigger than a mastodon.

But I'm no paleontologist.

Looks to me like a match to figure 7. Not exact, but could be a mammoth.
Interesting item. Mammoths where common in the midwest during the last ice age.

Silly, Monsters dont have teeth like that. Monsters have fangs and hairy ears and beady eyes and a pegleg (sorry to peglegs who might or might not fit the above description but are not monsters)

What you have there is a fossillized poop from an early discovery party member that landed over 20000 years ago from the planet Zigmorphyia (phonically - ZIG - MORF- EEEEEYA). I can tell by the textbook multiple ring pattern, known only to the Zigmorphians. After carefull contemplation and some major consultations with my colleagues, we have decided that there is a slight chance that your specimen could be from none other than Drebugrideger298627, there was some debate on whether the timeline fit Drebugrideger298628 better, but the concensus between myself and 62 of my closest invisible friends was determined to be the first choice 27. Like the others said, it does look prehistoric. I've seen Mammoth teeth which look a little larger than than yours, definitely a large animal. HH and neat find, Mike

A while back while looking at treasure leads here in Maine, I came across this:
