Extended tag sale yesterday (monday). I got out of work at 230pm headed there. I see a dusty, dirty garage cleanout happening and girl selling says they are putting stuff out as they clean up - late saturaday, sunday, everything is getting donated after sale today. I am digging in the garage threw boxes and ask if they have any jewelry. They didn't, but in a box of books I find a Godiva chocolate box with some weight to it, I am thinking old chocolates are actually going to be in there.
Well, I found the costume jewelry stash - pretty loaded with loose necklaces, watches and some small jewelry boxes. I noticed a 14k stamp on a cross and a couple 750 marks on pendants. I figure it will be easier to buy the box than pick out real looking items.
Well, she inspects my box, takes out a few items she wanted (I don't think they were anything real) and she says how about $7. I pause, and then say, I'll give you $10, there's at least 10 items in here at $1 each. She appreciated the fairness. The antique popup clocks I found she kept, and then I paid $5 for a brass pot and a pen in a box (overpaid). But I walked away with a $15 treasure hunt when I got home.
Total finds - 4 grams 18k, 2.1 grams 14k 5.8 925, a few antique watches, 50 grams 12k GF, and amber necklace marked P 875, a 14k enamel charm and a load of costume stuff (possible pearls), nice antique heart shaped powder case.
I didn't have a mega gold score - but for a Monday, I think it's epic.
