Woke up to torrential rain… so delayed start! After yesterdays great day, we were back to the sticky mud after all the rain, went back to the same field and searched in earnest for the rest of the gold faster I found yesterday, no luck, but still some excellent finds for us both!

gorgeous livery button, even more gorgeous buckle, some lead ‘shapes’ strap end and buckles, a tiny silver button, a tiny piece with a flower on and a tiny square!! Buttons, 2 ‘Tokens’ both have a shield on the back ? Another non I’d coin, and finally a possible tiny Roman ? …

Mid afternoon the clouds darkened, the thunder boomed and hailstones fell… But I love the colours and light just before the storm hit! 😆 xx

Small one is a Rose Farthing, big one with shield is a late 18th C Half-penny Token, circa 1790s.
We only got just over 3 hours on sticky ground! Just starting my pictures....

Ahh thanks Gare! xx

Such age.
Centuries and centuries and centuries old stuff.
All that populace and traffic and time ; till again a quiet oblique site.
A tractor today ; and maybe a drop now and then on the top layer.
Then arrive blossom and himself , bringing bits of the lost and / or forgotten past to light again.

Congrats.
The buckle in your first picture would make my year. Maybe multiple years. Someone put some time and effort into embellishing it well beyond just being utilitarian.

And the rest? Oh yes!

Just for info that Royal Artillery Ball Button is a much scarcer find than the usual types Artillery Buttons you/we find.
