I got a metal detector for Christmas and just started collecting coins as well. I'm addicted!!! So my moms told me that she had some coins laying around that she would like to give me. I was shocked when she gave me a 1944 standing liberty and 1962 Ben Franklin half dollars, an Eisenhower dollar, some old pesos, some buffalo nickles, and these two coins that I can't identify. One is gold and has a ladies head on it with a date of 1880 and the other is from 1982. Can anyone help me identify these coins?
Thanks

I am pretty sure the gold coin is from Australia, Queen Victoria.

Nice ,The gold coin is a British souvern <-wrong spelling ???

Agreed. The 1880 coin is a British sovereign of Victoria. It's .917 fine (91.7% pure) gold. At today's spot price, it has a bullion value of $215.96.

The 1982 foreign coin is a Greek 2 drachmes. The metal is nickel-brass. It's worth about 15-25¢.

I'm sure this is a typo.
Check the date again. it is probably a 1924.
A 1944 would be a Washington Quarter.

I know , I know. I'm picking nits.

No Freaking way!! I can't believe my mom just had that coin sitting in a drawer. I'm going to have to find out how she got it. Guess I will have to put in a protective sleeve of something too.
Yes your right it is a Standing Liberty. Sorry for the typo.
Thank you everyone for your help
