"Momma Said"...50 Wheatie Day!
Hello Everyone,
Digging wheaties is almost as much fun as digging silver.....Um, okay, not quite!!
You know the old saying "Momma said there would be days like this"....well, I'm referring to a day where you go out detecting at an old park (1870's), dig 50 wheaties, including an '09 VDB (darn no S), semi-key '10s, semi-key '15s, one 1889 Indian, '37 Buff, and end up with only 2 silver ('36, '42 mercs). I had such a day yesterday. Currently, I have about a 4.5 wheat to 1 silver ratio for the year. Yesterday's ratio (50 to 2) was completely unrealistic. I was hoping for around 10 silvers, but I apparently stumbled on a "wheatie patch", and couldn't leave. The dates of the wheats were highly assorted...many teens, 20's; lots of 40's/50's. The one day wheat total is a record for me, and I got to share it with two of my hunting buds, Mike(ratman) and Jon(Goldenapples). I'll let them chime if they want to tell you what their wheatie/silver ratios were yesterday.
So, don't get too discouraged when you have a day where it seems all you're digging is wheaties...silver should be there too....it should; I promise.
The other 2 IH's ('91, '99) and 1 merc were dug on a previous trip to this same park. The really crusty merc was dug at my local park on Sat. morn.
Thanks for looking,
