I think I got moisture in the control box of my Garrett, all it's doing now is a continuous chatter chatter chatter. Nothing solid at all. Had it out yesterday with some rain, had a cover on it for a bit but then took it off ( ::) ) because I couldn't see my view screen.

Will it dry out or did I really do a number on it?

I've taken off the cover of the box, gently with compressed air blew off the circuit boards and letting it air dry out.

What's my chances? :-\

I'd hate to have to send it in for repairs! This "global warming" that everyone has been enjoying is great.

If it only got damp from condinsation I'd say you have a 85% chance it's going to be OK when it drys out. But if you dunked it your odds go down drastically, like 20% to the good.

Keep the batteries out and keep it apart in a dry warm room. You can hasten up the process with low heat from a hair blowdryer. But if your machine has an LCD, all bets are off.

like ant said, if it is only moisture in there it should be ok once it dries out. you can try using a hair drier to dry up the water, just dont over do it and melt the circut boards and solder joints.

Woohoo! Good so far, I took the batteries out and seperated the circuit boards to air dry the pins and such. It seems to be working well right now, I'll know better this weekend when I work it for awhile.

I didn't have to put the blow dryer to it though I was going to, hopefully I won't be so stupid next time! ::)

Lesson learned! I just hope that it doesn't start in again.

Don't Laugh.

Put it in the Microwave with a Fresh Open Box of Baking soda.

Don't Turn the Microwave on of course.

Try not to open the Microwave for as long as possable.

This should draw any lingering Moisture out.

If your like me & Need your Microwave Daily & often.
it's probably a waste of time though.

(the Microwave is the most Air Tight Place I can think of that you may have)

Jeff is right..... But don't forget to dry out the battery holder of moisture too.

It may help to change the batteries again.
