I was unable to find an exact match for what this is. I know the company and the general idea of what it is but have no idea what time period. Any help would be appreciated

"Modern Woodmen of America" + "Pur Autre Vie"

I have found a couple badges/buttons being sold on ebay with that design and one on Picclick. The patent on the badges are 1894 and the button is early 1900's. I would assume your piece is the same timeframe.

Thank you, I did some looking and saw one similar listed as a manager's badge. However, this badge had a chain and ID on it. I have also seen they made coffin plaques and there seems to be a point on the back that had something adhered to it. It would be cool if it were either of these, maybe a bit odd if it is the latter. The similarities in design you pointed out really do give me hope it is 1800's.

That could be from when the woodmen was a fraternal lodge and not an insurance company.
