Had a couple of hours late this afternoon, on a field about 15 miles from where I live. The field I searched was a very small grass paddock. It was typical for it's type, a few copper coins, mixed in with modern junk. To be honest nice just to be out detecting, we've had over a week of what seems like constant rain showers ( some very heavy ). As I say just digging the mundane, and then late on, a faint signal, produced this lovely gold ring. No hall mark, and looks very good gold, with an uncut blue stone. Looks to me to be old. Robert.

Excellent find, sir! May I add that your "modern" is old for some of us across the pond.

Thanks for sharing, way to work that machine/faint signal and .... HH ALL!

Hello the oldest readable coin in the picture is 1887, that in English detecting is classed as modern. Guess we are a bit lucky over here .

You sure are! I have a 1887 morgan dollar and feel extremely lucky to have found it with a detector. The number of coins I have dug older than that is very limited. I dug 16 coins yesterday at a spot I thought I'd try. The newest is a 2016 dime and the oldest a 1951 cent. The stuff you guys dig over there is impressive to say the least.
The ring has to be 20k or better.

Very nice finds, congratulations!

Very nice ring! I agree, it looks to be at least 18k, and also possibly hand crafted and fairly old. Congrats and stay dry!

Youre into the gold lately buddy. Glad you got out buddy

Looks like a high karat, and looks old to me as well. Really nice find.

I saw "old" and was about to pass this post by, then I saw it was your post Rob. And those who know Robfinds, knows your old means OLD.

That's a great handmade ring. 17th C? Earlier? Fantastic find man.

Beautiful ring. Thank you for sharing. I really enjoy posts from members outside the U.S.

Rings are not my thing - but looks 17/18th C?

We plan to do a small 1 acre horse paddock fairly soon, I hope I have your luck!

Nice finds!! That ring looks great !! Congrats and HH
